My city: Apnu Amdavad

When you have spent almost whole of your life only in Ahmedabad, you suddenly have so many feelings, thoughts, etc. travelling around your mind about the city. I have been here since birth. I am pure amdavadi by heart. They say in Gujarat when you travel through different cities your accent of Gujarati changes and yes of course we also have a unique language known as amdavadi gujarati.

The city is situated in the banks of Sabarmati River. Historically speaking, it got its name from Sultan Ahmed Shah. It is also famous for some great historic museums, temples and mosques, Sabarmati Ashram. It is kind of combination of old and new; old Ahmedabad consisting of busy lane, Jama Masjid, Gandhi memorial, etc. to the new Ahmedabad with some luxurious cafes, vibrant food culture offering almost all cuisines.

In all aspects, Ahmedabad is the best of course. It presently has one of the best transportation systems called BRTS- Bus Rapid Transport Service which easily connects all the areas. It is the best mode of transportation here for almost all people.

When you talk about festivals, how can one forget the famous 9-day Navratri festival offering prayers to Ambe Mata in form of playing Garba! It attracts all celebrities throughout India. The festival every 9-day goes till mid-night. And when you talk about Navratri, you have to talk about Manek-Chawk, which turns into a food market at around 11 p.m. and runs till wee hours in morning offering mouth watering fast food which is huge attraction for eatery after playing Garba.

In terms of shopping, Ahmedabad has everything to offer. From street shopping to grand malls and shops; offering clothes, handicrafts, furnishing, etc. Law-Garden market, University market all of them attracts lot of tourist.

Ahmedabad is surrounded by lot of weekend Gateways. It always feels you up with interesting holiday experience. It appeals all kinds of travelers. You can just pack up on Saturday and go to Mount Abu or Gir or you can just go to Ajanta-Ellora caves offering Ahmedabad’s rich heritage.
Ahmedabad is considered as one of the safe cities at least as compared to others. I had timings of my coaching till late hours and believe me it so safe; I had never “that” so of experience in the city.

Ahmedabad is the best place to have proper Gujarati thali. You cannot just stop yourself from tucking in. It is famous for local dishes such as Dhokla, Handvo, fafda; which are famous around the world. It also offers best street panipuri. At every corner and gali you would find a panipuri stall and minimum 5 people around the stall eating.

Last but not the least; it has the famous Indian Institute of Management located here. Every student dream of studying in the Institute. It is famous for producing some ace entrepreneurs of the world.
I wish I don’t need to leave Ahmedabad anyway in near future. I wish to live and die here. I love you Ahmedabad.

We miss you Grand mom!

That day, 31 st august, 2013; mom came in my room and in a heartbreaking tone she ordered me to shut off the T.V. I probably knew the reason but never wanted that to come true. As soon as I entered my grand mom room she lost all her senses. Did I really lose her? Was she no more in this world? I stood there; unable to move myself and trying to believe the reality! Tears came from my eyes. Everything stood still for me. I wish she lived more. I cried in an empty room remembering each and everything she did for me. My grandmother. More than a grand mom she was equal to my mom. I spent 19 years of my life with her. She pampered me like no one else and she probably had a hand in spoiling me and making me so stubborn. She used to tell me stories and sing lullabies every night to make me sleep till I turned 15. She would feed me at times when I had a row with my parents and she always fought with mom and dad to support me. She encouraged me even in studies and every time I used to ach

Book Review #1

Just Friends :D While searching for a fiction book to read at my sis’s place, my eyes suddenly stuck at the title "Just Friends" by Sumrit Shahi. The title itself forced me to pick up that book from the bunch of other fictions. And in the end all I could say is it was the best choice. Not because I was so willing to read it, but it was related to my life in some way. Whenever we talk about a romantic novel, we talk about Nicholas Sparks. When it comes to "Indian Authors" and "Love Stories", I stay away. But as soon as I read out the synopsis of the book, I couldn't wait to read it. It defines the same old question "Can a girl and a boy be just friends?" This question because at the end of the day a bond is formed; a bond secure enough to make us so habitual about each other. There are so many movies and books that defend that a guy and a girl can never be friends. The author has indeed penned down a straight from a heart

Minimalism

\   Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication -Leonardo Da Vinci Living a simple life has always fascinated me. My life revolves around my friends and family. They are enough to give me all the enjoyment I need. I do not require materialistic things to complete me. I am neither a fashion buff nor I have craziness about branded clothes. I get whatever I demand from my dad. Even though I am simple like other I celebrate my birthdays with huge cake, hang out with my friends often, and splurge on a nice hotel. I do all that makes me happy.   But sometimes we often complain of not having contented life. We compare our lives with our neighbors or friends or other family. Due to all this I see a world around me everything ballooning out of shape. Cars are the size of school buses, houses are as big as convection centers, shopping mall are the size of pentagon. It seems greedy to take more than my share of water, electricity, gas, ozone, food and goods. I think bigger is blander,
