My city: Apnu Amdavad

When you have spent almost whole of your life only in Ahmedabad, you suddenly have so many feelings, thoughts, etc. travelling around your mind about the city. I have been here since birth. I am pure amdavadi by heart. They say in Gujarat when you travel through different cities your accent of Gujarati changes and yes of course we also have a unique language known as amdavadi gujarati.

The city is situated in the banks of Sabarmati River. Historically speaking, it got its name from Sultan Ahmed Shah. It is also famous for some great historic museums, temples and mosques, Sabarmati Ashram. It is kind of combination of old and new; old Ahmedabad consisting of busy lane, Jama Masjid, Gandhi memorial, etc. to the new Ahmedabad with some luxurious cafes, vibrant food culture offering almost all cuisines.

In all aspects, Ahmedabad is the best of course. It presently has one of the best transportation systems called BRTS- Bus Rapid Transport Service which easily connects all the areas. It is the best mode of transportation here for almost all people.

When you talk about festivals, how can one forget the famous 9-day Navratri festival offering prayers to Ambe Mata in form of playing Garba! It attracts all celebrities throughout India. The festival every 9-day goes till mid-night. And when you talk about Navratri, you have to talk about Manek-Chawk, which turns into a food market at around 11 p.m. and runs till wee hours in morning offering mouth watering fast food which is huge attraction for eatery after playing Garba.

In terms of shopping, Ahmedabad has everything to offer. From street shopping to grand malls and shops; offering clothes, handicrafts, furnishing, etc. Law-Garden market, University market all of them attracts lot of tourist.

Ahmedabad is surrounded by lot of weekend Gateways. It always feels you up with interesting holiday experience. It appeals all kinds of travelers. You can just pack up on Saturday and go to Mount Abu or Gir or you can just go to Ajanta-Ellora caves offering Ahmedabad’s rich heritage.
Ahmedabad is considered as one of the safe cities at least as compared to others. I had timings of my coaching till late hours and believe me it so safe; I had never “that” so of experience in the city.

Ahmedabad is the best place to have proper Gujarati thali. You cannot just stop yourself from tucking in. It is famous for local dishes such as Dhokla, Handvo, fafda; which are famous around the world. It also offers best street panipuri. At every corner and gali you would find a panipuri stall and minimum 5 people around the stall eating.

Last but not the least; it has the famous Indian Institute of Management located here. Every student dream of studying in the Institute. It is famous for producing some ace entrepreneurs of the world.
I wish I don’t need to leave Ahmedabad anyway in near future. I wish to live and die here. I love you Ahmedabad.

Feminism 2.0

Yesterday, I was having a conversation with my old friend and he asked me if I was still blogging. And I sighed immediately. The worst feeling is not giving time to writing. There are so many things to be told but I just feel too lazy. But now let me make a resolution of at least trying to bring up to you one topic per month. I don’t promise though. So, why this topic? A cliched term? I am not the one to give opinion here. The word feminism has very broad meaning. But I always look up to it and construe the same with my own experiences. I am quite amused by the interpretation of being a feminist and rolling of eyes that is freely accompanied by this topic. The word feminist is interpreted as bitch in a black suit, men-hater and who always consider herself superior, sometimes “divorced” and also annoyed at the entire world. Absolute myths surrounding the word. How many of you come across women starting the topic with “I am not a feminist but...”? I mean why you need to justify? ...

That sticky-note!

It was during March where I was fed up of my schedule, and that feeling had somehow made me cranky. I was sitting on my study table with books all piled up and me staring at them. I was somehow trying to calm my mind from getting stressed up. And at that very moment, my brother came inside my room and unknowingly disturbed my thinking. He just wanted to borrow my ruler. He patiently asked me if he could, and I shouted at him for always borrowing my things and not returning them. My whole frustration was on him now; I got a reason to pour it out, and that too on my younger brother. He left picking up the scale without any reflexes. And I got back to my zone, wondering and worrying! With all these I concluded that I need a little nap and then things might get better. It was after half an hour that I woke up and what I found was my ruler with sticky note. The ruler was exactly at it's place but with a note attached. My brother had quietly sneaked in and left that. And ...

Amidst my Alley

Ever imagined that every person you see, every person standing on the street has a story, may be an extra-ordinary story to tell. Ever imagined that abandoned building is a home for many twittering birds. The stranger who bumped into you has fought a battle against cancer? Ever occurred? Me? Yes, I have a habit, habit of observing things around me and finding funny moments circling through that observation and also at times feeling the centermost creature on Earth, all of these, just while commuting. Seeing traffic police daily, reminds me of cartoon “ Make a way for Noddy ” and the sole police office in that animated series named Mr. Plod (no idea why I still remember). And a smile spreads across my face. Obviously, when you compare Mr. Plod to any traffic police you see on streets, with a huge belly and his whistle, you just laugh. Sometimes, if you are extremely lucky (well in my case, yes), they allow you to elude a rule and instruct you to just not stop and go, even if y...
